Beauty is defined as: a characteristic of a person, place or thing that provides a pleasurable or satisfactory experience, which is why when we talk about beauty, it encompasses so many different things -- from a song, a smell, a sunset or a smile.
This documentary explores our shared dance with beauty, body image and sexuality through intimate and often humorous conversations with people from various walks of life to identify commonalities, shared beliefs and touch on taboo-licious topics.
This film reflects/mirrors more of the conversations that we want to have around our shared dance with personal acceptance, accountability and self-love with the understanding that getting to the "Beautiful yoU" starts with the "Be U."
'Gaze of the Beholder,' an award-winning documentary by first time filmmaker and Gainesville native Wadooah Wali, spotlights conversations with people from all walks of life about the inherent human struggle with beauty and body image. Featuring commentary from radio and television personality, Carson Daly; Olympic athlete, Karina LeBlanc; actress-performer, Vanessa Villegas; as well as everyday people who’ve struggled with self-acceptance.
Wali is also a digital media professional and corporate storyteller by day. In her ‘spare time’, she’s an inspiring content creator. She’s taken companies from start up to public, working to bridging digital tech with the entertainment industry and continues to uplift the people around her through all personal and professional hats she wears. Gaze of the Beholder is one of the many projects she’s proud of and hopes to continue spreading its positive messages to all who will listen.
